CKD is a gradual and permanent loss of kidney function, most commonly caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, or other chronic conditions. It often develops silently over years. Early detection and treatment can help slow its progression significantly and delay the need for kidney replacement therapy.
When kidneys can no longer perform their function adequately, KRT becomes necessary to sustain life. Treatments include haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation — each designed to replicate the essential filtering and balancing functions the kidneys can no longer perform on their own.
